equivalent of moving tappets

by means of levers with pivots.

This substitution was used by

Kettell in 1883. See figures

at left.

In substituting the plunger at the

left for the lever shown below, the

infringer merely substituted a well

known mechanical equivalent, as

shown by Kettell
