Boley into advising Che legal authorities that Boley
hid given perjured testimony against Sampson at the
trial; that an Assistant United States Attorney was
called to the jail and such a statement was given by
Boley. See Exhibit G, page 82, et seq., record herein.
That the following day Namon Witcher,
Captain O'Reilly of the Sheriff's Office, and other
persons not mentioned discussed the matter of the con-
tents of said Exhibit G at the jail with Boley, and
after lying for a while finally admitted to those
present that the entire matter was a hoax for the
purpose of trying to help Sampson. Thereupon, another
statement, Exhibit I, page 91, et seq., record herein,
was signed by Boley, repudiating his former recantation
of the trial testimony.
The matter was thoroughly discussed
in the hearing on the motion for a new trial as to the
recantation, the repudiation, and all other matters
pertinent thereto. See Tr. pps. 66-132. It will be
